Orientation and Job Fair. There were two hotels there with their list of needs. One hotel even had their executive chef there. But they were looking for the more experienced students. After talking to some students and listening to the speakers at the orientation, I think the best way to get experience is to volunteer and work at school events. I'll be exposed to many more chefs than if I were to work at a restaurant and I'll have quality bonding time with other students.I was disappointed that we didn't get our kitchen gear, but we did get uniforms and towels. At school, I felt a fire burn inside me. Maybe it was the excitement of the moment. I would love to keep it burning throughout the rest of school and my development as a chef. But I'm sure burnout will be inevitable; I just have to keep a stash of matches somewhere...

I missed the job fair yesterday. I wonder if there were actually chefs there.

There's also going to be a non-food job fair for students needing work to pay for school and rent. I'd love to get a part-time gig at a kitchen store so I can get a discount on all those gadgets on my wishlist.

Anyway, orientation is on Monday. We're getting our uniforms and equipment. I can't wait to play with the knives.

In other news, my starter is now 2 days old. It's frothing like a champ. I think I should name it. We'll see if inspiration strikes.
